On September 9th 2017, the members of the Scholarship & Mentoring program had a group meeting at the Disability Research and Capacity Development center (DRD) with the participation of 14 students with disabilities who were receiving DRD’s scholarship. This activity was aimed to help those students (especially the new members) to understand their rights and responsibilities, the policy of the group as well as allow them to discuss the 6-month plan for their activities.

All of the activities are aimed to improve their skills in terms of teamwork, leadership, time management and planning, etc. based on sharing ideas, discussing and making decisions.
Pham Van Trong, a new member, said: “…I have learnt a lot and found a sense of empathy from this meeting. DRD’s scholarship is not like many other scholarships. Those scholarships end right after awarding students. DRD, on the other hand, cares for the development of each individual.”
The plan for the last 6 months of 2017 includes:
- August: Visit and examine a construction;
- September: An exchange activity among students with disabilities in Ho Chi Minh city: a competition on their knowledge about DRD;
- October: Office computer skills;
- November: Peer consulting;
- December: Visit a social shelter
